Susan Keshet's Sync series focuses on the allure of fashion and trends in contemporary life. Drawn to the aspirational world of communication and its impact on human behaviour, she questions how we might be affected by trends we witness and the influence of digital media and technology. Working with found photographic material, Keshet creates figurative compositions in which her subjects often become caricatured and stylised in form. Depicted figures in motion are placed on particular colour fields and appear starkly against their surroundings. Other scenes are inhabited by a single model or by a pair of models, echoing their engagement with their activities and their disengagement with spectators. The dualism between interior and exterior is at the heart of Keshet’s artistic practice, investigating how the world is simultaneously perceived and imagined in urban settings and the self. A sense of silence and estrangement often pervade her paintings and frequently imply the transitory  nature of modern existence.

Susan Keshet is a painter and curator based in East Sussex, UK.  In 2015 her work has been shown at St Anne's Galleries, Lewes at the Affordable Art Fair 2015, Hampstead and Battersea, London.  She has been shortlisted for the National Open Art Competition and 20 Painters’, Phoenix Brighton in 2014. The Parallax Art Fair, London, the Threadneedle Prize and being one of the five final selected artists for the Republic Art Award are highlights in 2013.
