Anne Harild

Anne Harild’s work is rooted in uncovering the visual language of place and the materials and forms we surround ourselves with and often comes about through a process of visual research and investigation into a specific area or site, seen here in the “Lantern” series. This work is a series of preliminary studies for large-scale hanging light sculptures that reflect on the architectural language of Manor Park in East London. This permanent public artwork is currently being fabricated for installation this year. The collages are created using photographed, printed and deconstructed textures from specific buildings which are then reimagined and used as building blocks. This process of research and translation of place is central to the work, not in an exact and precise way but to allow something new to be revealed or gained from the process.

Anne Harild is a Danish artist who creates film animations, site-specific installations and collages. She investigates the inherent use of architectural structures and their physical appearances in her work. Informed by the urban and natural environment she plays with grids, lines, angles, geometric shapes and textures, resulting in constructions we see, experience and encounter in our cities and open expanses.
