Born in Sweden, Salford studied in the USA, Japan, and graduated from the City and Guilds of London Art School. For over 10 years she has been immersed in the hospital environment, discovering a major influence for her practice. The series Layers of Life draws upon her experiences observed in the medical setting, a place where individuals continuously change, physically, mentally and emotionally. This distinct body of work focuses on the parallel between humanity and rejected entities, conveying underlying exuding feelings and the concept of eternal renewal.

The Madonna series, symbolises the Virgin Mary, depicting her as a mother, alone, without child. Salford’s images celebrate the dichotomy of the icon's splendor, innocence and fallibility in contrast to grandeur.

In Liquid Reality, she texturises and fragments her photographs to challenge our view. Beauty and precious moments are central to this sequence, which can be observed in the depictions Afloat and Kiss. Fluid surfaces evoke paradoxical impressions of movement and stillness, like animate images frozen in time.

Salford’s vision and the issues raised in her work are handled with utmost sensitivity. She  states “I am interested in the core, the essence of everything - I search the beauty in imperfection”.
