RECEIPES FOR BROKEN HEARTS - 1ST BUKHARA BIENNALE

In September, I travelled as part of the Uzbek Delegation from the UK to the inauguration of the 1st Biennale in Bukhara, titled “Recipes for Broken Hearts.” The title references Ibn Sina, the polymath known as the father of modern medicine, whose contributions to science and philosophy were groundbreaking.

One of the stories surrounding Ibn Sina tells that he invented the Uzbek national dish, Palov, to mend the broken heart of a prince who could not marry the daughter of a draftsman. Thus, Palov became both a recipe and a prescription.

The Biennale took place in the historic centre of Bukhara, where an ancient mosque, two madrasas, and a caravanserai were restored to display the commissioned artworks. All the invited artists collaborated with local artisans and craftspeople, presenting their remarkable artistic and intellectual visions.

The Bukhara Biennale closes 20 November, and a visit is highly recommended.

YOUR CAREER IN THE ART WORLD - REGENT'S UNIVERSITY

The desire to pursue a career in the artworld is the ambition of many.  Finding your first job in a gallery or museum,  progressing a career while already working in the cultural field and the desire to move into a different sphere these are topics this lecture explored.

International teaching institutions provide degrees in traditional disciplines like art history and curation, art market, cultural and museums studies, conservation and education. In addition, there are many other directions to choose from, depending on the persons  interest, qualification and skills.

Thank you Regent's University for inviting me to present a talk on this subject to your art history students.

CONCEPTS AND COLOUR: A JOURNEY - A NEW EXHIBITION BY PETER ZIMMERMANN

Peter Zimmermann’s artistic practice is rooted in the traditions of abstract expressionism and new media. Film stills and digital images from his personal database are masterfully manipulated with a techno twist. The resulting works are unrecognizable representations, estranged from their original sources; these optical distortions serve as the starting point for his conceptual paintings.

BONGSU  PARK  - LINGERINE  FRAGRANCES

A fragrance is a carefully composed blend of aromatic ingredients, often incorporating essential oils, designed to produce a distinctive bouquet. A scent, by contrast, may simply be a natural odour, such as the smell of grass, seawater, or freshly brewed coffee. For millennia, humans have cherished pleasant fragrances, using them to enrich their surroundings, awaken the senses, and stir emotions.
