Whitfield’s romance with abandoned shipwrecks started at an early age, to him, they convey, adventure, adversity and danger. Distant mud banks and tidal creeks are the final resting places of these empty shells and their decaying pitted timbers. They captivate our imagination, offer tranquillity and invite to contemplation.
