ART BASEL QATAR - A BRAND NEW FAIR
In February 2026, the inaugural Art Basel Qatar made its debut at M7 in Doha’s Msheireb Downtown, showcasing modern and contemporary art with a focus on the MENASA (Middle East, North Africa, South Asia) region. Curated by the Artistic Director Wael Shawky, the event brought together 87 galleries and highlighted curated solo presentations.
Participating in the delivery of this new art fair was an exciting experience. I also enjoyed working with both familiar colleagues and new connections.

MATRIX 289 - ZEINAB SALEH - SIGNS OF A SOFTER WORLD
For her first solo museum exhibition in the United States, Zeinab Saleh (b. 1996, Nairobi; lives and works in London) presents a new group of paintings that reflect a meditative engagement with everyday life. MATRIX 289 / Zeinab Saleh: Signs of a Softer World offers a moment of respite within a world frequently shaped by confusion and chaos.
It was a pleasure to conduct the condition check for Zeinab’s calm and beautiful paintings.
The exhibition closes 19 April 2026, a visit is highly recommended.

PETER ZIMMERMANN - A NEW TOURING EXHIBITION
Peter Zimmermann’s artistic practice is rooted in the traditions of abstract expressionism and new media. Film stills and digital images from his personal database are masterfully manipulated with a techno twist. The resulting works are unrecognizable representations, estranged from their original sources; these optical distortions serve as the starting point for his conceptual paintings.

SHOOQ ALSHAWI - INFINITE EXISTENCE
What does culture want? To make infinity comprehensible.
Umberto Eco, Spiegel Interview, November 2009
Shooq AlShawi's practice presents a conceptual approach to painting that blends gestural abstraction with thematic explorations of faith, memory, and existence.

Paint breathes, and colour becomes visible vibration, transforming unseen harmonies into something felt. AlShawi’s linear mark-making, applied by hand, brush, and stick, dissolves as the strokes shift between control and release. Layers of oil paint, in all their depth and texture, create an infinite sense of oneness, at once still, yet moving and pulsing throughout.
