THE V&A EAST STOREHOUSE
A new gem – The V&A East Storehouse – formerly the London 2012 Media Centre at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. This is the first working museum store open for exploration by the general public, especially children, young people, students, and art professionals.
The building has been designed to bring visitors closer than ever to objects in the V&A collection, as well as the behind-the-scenes work of the museum. It’s an amazing experience, and it’s free. Since opening at the end of May, the Storehouse has already attracted an audience of 170,000.
There are many surprise elements, as you never know which objects you’ll see next. Information is provided via QR codes and labels.
I won’t reveal more - it’s a must-visit. I’m simply thrilled to take my students to this fantastic facility later this year.

CONCEPTS AND COLOUR: A JOURNEY - A NEW EXHIBITION BY PETER ZIMMERMANN
Peter Zimmermann’s artistic practice is rooted in the traditions of abstract expressionism and new media. Film stills and digital images from his personal database are masterfully manipulated with a techno twist. The resulting works are unrecognizable representations, estranged from their original sources; these optical distortions serve as the starting point for his conceptual paintings.

THE SECOND ISLAMIC ARTS BIENNALE, JEDDAH
The 2nd Islamic Arts Biennale in Jeddah closed at the end of May 2025, and I was privileged to return once again to manage a team of art professionals. Working at the Biennale is a fast-paced and intense experience, full of surprises, but collaborating with outstanding international teams brought this remarkable project to a successful conclusion.
I wouldn’t have missed this spectacular exhibition for anything. The event showcased historical objects from Islamic cultures alongside contemporary art, exploring how faith is experienced, expressed, and celebrated through feeling, thought, and creative expression. I’m pleased to share a few impressions with you.

KATRIN KÖNIG – LOST LANDMARKS
Katrin König rescues remnants of memory and other intangible traces. She transforms these findings into large-scale collagraphs that offer a unique journey into an inner world, inviting contemplation. These soulscapes explore our connection with the world around us through the artist’s eyes and consider the power of belonging—the human need and desire to feel associated with and valued within a group or community.

BLACK SWAN - CAN
Can Akgümüş’s Black Swan series hovers in the realm of ancient folklore, Greek mythology, and symbolism. However, in this body of work, his focus is on the physical form, where an armour made of flesh becomes the pivotal point of expression - flawed, durable, and fragile - changing over time as it carries the soul through life. To him, this transformation narrates the cycle of being.
