The Power of Art #40

Share

Bestowed with repeated rhombus-shaped and other geometrical tessellations, they convey an intense playfulness, perhaps communicating secret tribal language.

Patterns once deemed redundant by the modernists, to Beattie are the lifeline of his painterly abstractions, giving us an insight into the passion he feels for their relevance. His creative yield resonates with different practices, ranging from tribalism, cubism to op,  pop and aboriginal art. Beattie’s paintings create an illusion of movement and engage with the viewer’s perception: his mixtures of colours generate and enhance the shifting optical patterns.  These constructions embody the dynamism of visual forces, enriching the environments they occupy.
