The Power of Art #43 Ernesto Romano 'Ceremonial Memories'

Share

The series is thematically inspired by historical figures. Each character is depicted with symbolical elements connected to the prominence and status the person held during their life.  The Blue Queen is the first culmination of this partnership. The life-size skull is covered in a metallic blue finish and adorned with Swarovski crystals. Romano placed each crystal at the junction of the skull bones. The cranium is then decorated with a hand-woven metallic crown, designed and meticulously made by Bevanati, resembling George IV's State diadem. Queen Elizabeth II wore this tiara at her very first state opening of parliament in 1952. She then followed in George IV's footsteps when she wore the emblem again on the way to her own coronation in 1953.
