The Power of Art #61 Silvia Hatzl 'Gestalten'

Share

Silvia Hatzl's 'Gestalten' are made of different materials and currently occupy the nave of the Chapel of Boondael in Ixelles. Away from forests, meadows, lakes and rivers, they wander forward resolute, proud and tall, forming a procession. Somehow strangely, these  figures are symbols and present traces of lives lived, paths walked, souls lost and memories inherited from abandoned and forgotten stories. They are diaphanous and imbued with love, full of strength and gentleness, filled with life and death - these forms draped, stretched and wrapped - are a group of phantoms that momentarily inhabit the Chapel of Boondael.
