The Power of Art #66 Beat Kuert 'Petra Pan'

Share

In his fantasy these personages should be subversive and take over the world,  hiding themselves in our brains. He often refers to Maria from the  German film Metropolis by Director Fritz Lang: the real Maria and the false Maria - in one person.  As so often with split personalities, their behaviours, thoughts, and actions are completely different.

Petra Pan is Kuert’s female version of  Peter Pan, a fictional character created by  J.M. Barry, of a boy that never grows up, living his never-ending childhood adventures and dreams in Neverland. In this instance, Kuert sinister script entails that Peter Pan is plagued with jealousy and graves for Petra’s demise. He attempts to convince her that she can fly in order to destroy her - but fails.

As a film maker and artist Kuert generates puzzling scenarios, always walking a tight robe between fantasy and reality.
