Examining the location clarifies the following issues: parking for loading and unloading, access to and into the building, and other obstacles. The assessment also helps to determine the suitability of display spaces, the number of art handling teams being involved, the appropriate hardware, machinery, and tools needed. Heavy sculptures and large paintings require special equipment, such as genie lifts, slings, cranes, and flatbed trucks. In addition, trained members of staff might execute rigging techniques and current H&S regulations and PPE requirements must be fulfilled. Depending on size of load, permits and escorts are necessary, and the authorities must be informed.
